PPF Calculator
Project your Public Provident Fund balance over the fifteen-year term at the current rate.
- Is PPF interest taxable?
- No. PPF has exempt-exempt-exempt status: your deposit is deductible under section 80C, the interest accrues tax free, and the maturity proceeds are not taxed. It remains one of the few fully tax-free instruments available.
- When should I deposit into PPF to earn the most interest?
- Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of each month. Depositing on or before the 5th earns you that month's interest, so an annual deposit made before 5 April earns the full year.
